“Emerging Best Practices Ensure Fracture Effectiveness Over Time In Resource Plays,” written by consultants Mike Vincent and Monte Besler, was selected as the December 2013 Editor’s Choice for The American Oil & Gas Reporter.
The article was adapted from Vincent and Besler’s paper presented earlier this year at the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference in Denver. Their results indicate that greater focus should be placed on fracture effectiveness, rather than initial fracture length or extent. The article includes a field study demonstrating that Bakken well production has been significantly improved with increased concentrations of ceramic proppant and improved placement techniques. Practices are emerging in all resource plays that can enhance frac effectiveness and durability.
The American Oil & Gas Reporter is the “Better Business” publication of the exploration, drilling, and production industry, that also serves as the Official Publication for 28 associations of independent oil and gas producers and operators.
The findings in this and other similar technical papers reinforce the value behind the CARBO production enhancement strategy. This unique approach to design, build and optimize fractures delivers higher production levels on and offshore, increases estimated ultimate recovery and lowers finding and development costs per barrel of oil.
