Webinar: Utilization of Engineered Ceramics – Making the Switch in Green Sand Castings
Webinar date and time:
Live Event: Thursday, December 5, 8:30 - 9:00 am CDT
Webinar replay: Available anytime after December 6, 2019
Ceramics as a casting media has been used for decades in the global metal casting market. In the majority of instances, ceramic media has been used as a silica sand substitute for core, backing and facing applications, where end-product quality requirements warrant a higher performance casting media. With the newly established OSHA PEL limits, more foundries are considering full process conversions that would substitute the silica sand with engineered ceramics to reduce or eliminate silica dust exposure. With each process conversion, chemically bonded, clay bonded and unbonded, there are considerations required of the media to assure compatibility and performance criteria are met for producing quality castings. The focus of the webinar will be on the measure and use of engineered ceramics for the Green Sand casting process, the performance attributes and discussion topics to consider when converting from silica sand with an intent to meet new OSHA PEL regulations.
